Driving north from Edinburgh,stopping to view the Bridges cross the River Forth,at South Queensferry, we drive across the Forth Road Bridge, many places to visit : the conservation village of 16th century Culross, Dunfermline with its ancient Abbey, the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, Falkland Palace,associated with Mary Queen of Scots, St Andrews, home of our oldest university from 15th c, golf courses, . We can stop in some of the small fishing villages which were the great trading ports with the European countries of Holland and Belgium, such as Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans, Crail. Anstruther has the best fish and chips in Scotland. the shop has won many awards over the years.

While in St Andrews we can walk around the charming University town, visit the ancient ruined Cathedral and Castle, walk on the Old Course, have your photo taken on the famous Swilken Bridge on 17th fairway, have lunch or tea in the Clubhouse overlooking the golf courses. Walk on the sands where “Chariots of Fire” was filmed. Shop in the individual shops in the narrow streets.

Fife Coastal Path – part of the path can be walked at various stages around the coast with spectacular views along the River Forth, rich in wildlife. Or the Lomond Hills can be an interesting walk, these volcanic hills are under 1000 feet with wonderful views from the summit.
