Driving south of Edinburgh to the village of Roslin to visit the ancient 15thc Rosslyn Chapel then driving further south through the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. First stop at Scotts’s view point a favourite place of Sir Walter Scott’s one of Scotland’s famous authors, overlooking the River Tweed and the Eildon Hills, onwards to the charming town of Melrose to visit the ancient Abbey, where King Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried, hear about the Romans in the Trimontium Musem , stopping for lunch in the town or heading to Abbotsford House the home of Sir Walter Scott , enjoying lunch in the restaurant before exploring the house which overlooks the River Tweed and wandering through the lovely gardens

Returning to Edinburgh in late afternoon.
